2003 WISANGER HILLS CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Colour

Full, deep red which is just starting to develop its mature tints.
Nose
Lifted raspberry, spice and black cherry notes, complexed with gentle charry notes from the oak.
Palate
Medium to full-bodied wine with mouth-filling ripe flavours. The cherry and raspberry flavours are here too, with smoky oak and firm but soft tannins.
Oak
In barrel for 22 months - mainly once and twice used French and American oak hogsheads.
Aging Potential
This wine has flavour and body and a genuine ripeness about it, so it should age very well in bottle for years. It will peak around 2009/10 but will go on well after that.
Growing Season
Spring was mild and dry, following a very dry winter in 2002. Fruit set was good. Summer was mild and dry too, except for one short period of rain in February which caused a small amount of splitting. The fruit soon dried out and ripened quickly to avaerage 13.6° Bé. The cab was harvested on March 28 and 29.
