Kangaroo Island is a maritime oasis with over 450 km of coastline. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty as more than half the island has never been cleared of vegetation; about one-third is conserved in National and Conservation Parks.

Due to its isolation, the island is renowned for its abundance of wildlife, much of which is uncommon or extinct on mainland Australia. Kangaroos, wallabies, goannas, sea lions, little penguins, koalas and platypus can be found. Hundreds of birds can be observed in the coastline cliffs, beaches and lagoons.

Australian Wines
Kangaroo Island

Many of the roadsides carry a dense understorey of thick eucalypt scrub and the native wildflowers are breathtaking in spring.

Kangaroo Island was the first free settlement in Australia settled in 1836 and today is a thriving rural location known for its ‘clean green’ image.

Grape growing is one of the activities which over the last decade, has successfully replaced traditional farming in some parts of the island.

Speculation that the island’s climate would produce top quality wines has proved correct as they are now achieving excellent reviews in wine journals in the US, Canada and Switzerland, as well as in Australia.

As Kangaroo Island has been declared an internationally recognised “Region”, the consumer can be assured of the authenticity of the wine. With a reputation for excellence in its produce, which includes cattle and sheep farming, tourism, fishing, and aquaculture, K.I. is becoming an icon for quality on the world map.
