SHIRAZ |
| Colour |
Deep
crimson, dense and opaque |
| Nose |
Lifted,
generous, showing plummy and spicy shiraz character, complemented
by the gentle oak background. |
| Palate |
The
palate mirrors the nose - ripe, rich and flavoursome, with a
firm structure and full body which signifies long-term aging
potential. |
| Oak |
Aged
in predominantly American, but also French, oak for 16 months. |
| Aging
Potential |
The
wine has the structure and richness to age beautifully. It will
improve consistently for five to ten years, but will live happily
for much longer. |
| Growing
Season |
It
was extremely dry from spring all the way through vintage. Temperatures
were mild and, with a generally windy summer, the growing season
was disease free. These conditions produced a very low yield
of sound, full-flavoured and beautifully coloured fruit. Fruit
was picked on March 7 at 13.5° baume. |
