2001
CABERNET SAUVIGNON |
| Colour |
Dark, deep reddish-black |
| Nose |
Mouthwatering aromas
of chocolate, cassis and spicy oak. |
| Palate |
The palate reflects
the nose with distinctive and typical cabernet flavours of cassis
and moccha complemented by cinnamon-like spices and vanillin
from the oak. The palate is firm but elegant. |
| Oak |
Predominantly French
(67%) - balance American oak. We used 70% hogsheads and 30%
barriques. 78% of barrels were new and the balance once and
twice used. |
| Aging
Potential |
The wine has a long
life ahead of it, given good cellaring. It will show increasing
complexity and roundness over the years. While it will go beyond
10 years, it will probably reach its peak by about 2008-2010. |
| Growing
Season |
2000/2001 was a wonderful
growing season. We had quite a wet spring which was followed
by an early, warm and dry summer. The season was disease-free.
Cabernet sauvignon was picked on 19th March at about 13.7°Bé. |
