Colour

Deep red, dark and opaque.
Nose Complex, full and rich - typical Cape d'Estaing plums, berries and spicy shiraz character. These are gently enhanced by the French oak.
Palate Also complex and full. The structure features tannins which are fine and elegant. The wine shows softness, integration and great length.
Oak Matured in a combination of American and French hogsheads and barriques, approx 80% new, for 16 months.
Aging Potential Although at this stage the wine is more complex and advanced than previous vintages, there is no reason why it should not age very well indeed for 5 - 10 years.
Growing Season Spring was mild and wet with November being the coolest on record. This affected flowering and fruit set, producing a very low crop. Summer was generally warm to hot and dry, apart from a couple of brief rainy periods during February. The fruit was picked at 14° ba
